The rich have left their homes and deserted the city and three characters join forces to pose as alchemists.
Ben Jonson’s classic masterpiece takes a ruthless and hilarious look at the tendency in us all to believe the outlandish and the unlikely in pursuit of our wildest dreams. What do you desire? What do you dream of? How much are you willing to believe?
Firehouse and Hoxton Hall have joined forces to stage a reworking of this classic, using contemporary stories from the local community in Hoxton. Over the next few months, our StoryStation will be found in a stall on Hoxton Street Market. From these recordings will come a new version of The Alchemist - one that belongs firmly to Hoxton.
Hoxton Select is a pilot project which hosts a unique season of high quality, professional work, programmed by a panel of local Young People. The Alchemist is the main show in their Urbanism Season
