Hoxton Hall is delighted to present the inaugural Hoxton Select programme and its first season inspired by ideas on ‘Urbanism’. Shortlisted companies/artists came to Hoxton Hall to run a short workshop, and pitch their ideas to a panel of young people, aged 14-26. The season opens on August 24th, with a special launch party on the 21st featuring dance, music and live performances.
Hoxton Select is a pilot project which aims to host a unique season of high quality, professional work putting Young People in control of one of the most dynamic arts venues in London. The panel make regular visits to the theatre and take part in group discussions about the work they have seen. Over the last few months, Hoxton Hall has received a great number of submissions from some of the most exciting, up and coming companies and artists in the country. Events in the season include;
The Alchemist - A Hoxton reworking of Ben Jonson's classic masterpiece
Street Training - Street Training Hoxton - A participatory performance around the streets of Hoxton
Work In Progress - Three bite sized shows and cabaret in one night
No Spitting - Young talent variety nights including music comedy and performance
Hipnotic - Hip Hop showcase featuring music, dance and graffiti art, devised and performed by Young Londoners aged 13-19
