Hoxton Hall is a Grade II* listed Victorian Music Hall nestled in the heart of East London and is the home of contemporary variety performance. We host a range of productions from new writing, live music, immersive experiences and the best in stand-up, whilst also building a reputation for developing some of the most exciting emerging London talent.

Hoxton Hall is not just a theatre, but a magnificent music and events venue, rehearsal and recording space, and a learning space for young people in Hackney. Since 1863, we have pioneered creative engagement and community partnerships throughout Shoreditch, earning Hoxton Hall its place as a key provider of an ongoing programme of diverse performance and youth arts activities in the local area.

We believe in the inherent value of engaging creative and youth led activity, providing young people with the support to develop. We are committed to ensuring creativity is accessible to everyone regardless of background or ability. We believe we are unique in our outlook and vision.

We offer a niche space for venue hire and have served a wide spectrum of clients with diverse needs across the years. All from the BBC to the globally acclaimed artist Patti Smith have graced our walls, as well as the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum and show stopping English National Opera. In addition providing a performance and exhibition space, we have also acted as a film location on numerous occasions for the likes of Ralph Fiennes’ The Invisible Woman. Whether you have a desire to perform, a need for an inspiring workspace, unique location to film, or a desire to showcase a special event, we welcome you to explore and discover Hoxton Hall and the many ways in which we anchor the Shoreditch community.

We are one of the only surviving examples of a salon-style music hall.  A significant capital works project, was completed in 2015. This was funded through the My Place scheme through Heritage Lottery.  The work included upgrading our spaces and improving accessibility throughout the building. Hoxton Hall has now served the local community for more than 150 years.

After the first extensive renovation of the performance Hall and the surrounding spaces completed in March 2015, aided by the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England and a number of other trust and foundations, we are excited to embark on our next phase of development. Re-establishing this unique mix of community and youth participation, enterprise and professional performance as the creative hub at the heart Hoxton.

Hoxton Hall is a place that nods to past as it assuredly strides to its future as a variety hall for the 21st Century. Providing a performance platform for up and coming and established artists, reinventing variety for a new generation; nurturing the creation of new works from established artists and young companies that respond to place and space, exploiting the unique viewing experience in this old building.
