Hoxton Hall, a Young Hackney funded Youth Hub and venue have been working with SoundThread, an organisation who specialise in building studios in community settings. Members of the Hoxton Hall Youth Arts program spent their half term holidays developing a new production studio for the use of young people to record music to a professional level.
We are very grateful for the support of fantastic organisations such as the Children’s Scrap Project in Homerton who gave us a number of resources for the studio
Also to Ellie Goulding, BRIT Award winning singer-songwriter, with strong connections to Hackney who filmed Mastercard Priceless Surprises at Hoxton Hall for two of her fans. Ellie donated the acoustic insulating foam that they had used for the shoot to Hoxton Hall for use in the Hoxton Hall studio.
Hoxton Hall were extremely grateful for the gift and hope that knowing where that support came from inspires young people in the studio to go on and follow in her footsteps.
Participation Manager Boris Witzenfeld commented, ‘The community of Hackney has a wealth of extraordinary talent and we are delighted to be able to offer better resources to the community we serve, to give them the highest quality creative opportunities. The new studio will enable people to record their music to a professional standard. We are grateful to SoundThread for doing this with our young people being at the heart of the project. The young people soldered the wires, cut the wood and built the studio with their own hands, giving them an enormous sense of ownership and achievement.’
