Edinburgh Preview – Lou Sanders, Iain Stirling & Kieran Boyd

Hoxton Hall hosts Edinburgh previews, bringing work-in-progress shows from a series of comedians trailing new shows in preparation for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017.

First up we have Lou Sanders,
Iain Stirling
And then Kieran Boyd!

Lou Sanders has been has named as one of the top comic’s to watch in Vogue, The Sun, TimeOut, London is Funny, Fest Magazine & Dave TV.  Her television highlights include Alan Davies’ As Yet Untitled (DAVE), Live From the BBC (BBC), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) and Comedy Up Late from the Melbourne Comedy Festival (ABC1). She has also appeared on and written for numerous shows for channels including Channel 4, Sky, BBC and ITV and has just released the short film Elderflower which she co-wrote with Hannah George (Miranda – BBC1, Trollied – Sky1) and co-stars with Sheila Reid (Benidorm – ITV1), Tom Rosenthal (Friday Night Dinner – Channel 4) and Mike Wozniak (Man Down – Channel 4). Lou also currently has nine projects in with various production companies and commissioners.

Lou’s fifth Edinburgh Fringe show What’s that Lady Doing? received widespread critical acclaim (“Genuinely different” – ★★★★ The Scotsman) and she has performed around the world including Los Angeles and the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

A well-known face on television, Iain is also the recognisable, cheeky voice of Love Island (ITV2) which is now in its second series, adding to a list of multiple credits including: performing on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central and Drunk History (Comedy Central), as well as hosting his own Scottish BAFTA nominated (best children’s show) panel show The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC). He has joined the panel on Fake Reaction and Safe Word (ITV2), Sweat the Small Stuff (BBC Three), and appeared in the BBC3 Comedy Feed Pumped.  A regular voice on the radio too, Iain has made appearances on shows including The Now Show, Dilemma (Radio 4), The Josh Widdicombe Show (XFM) and recorded a Radio One takeover.

Iain burst onto the comedy scene whilst studying for a Law degree at Edinburgh University, reaching the finals of both the Paramount Funniest Student competition (2009), and the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year competition (2009) and has since performed four consecutive sold out and acclaimed shows, Happy To Be The Clown? (2012), Iain Stirling At Home (2013) and Everything (2014), Touchy Feely (2015), Onwards! (2016) at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny? (2009), Amused Moose Laugh-Off (2010), and part of Fringe favourites WitTank, Kieran has been performing his inventive, high-energy stand up across the country for five years. He gigs for Avalon, CKP, The Stand, Komedia, and Highlight among others, as well as numerous shows at the Edinburgh Festival.

In 2009 and 2010 he compered the stand-up showcase, Comedy Baby, and in 2011 performed in a split show Don’t Mess. In the same year he also directed a sketch show from The Leeds Tealights. In 2012, Kieran performed at the Edinburgh Festival as part of The Comedy Zone, the Fringe’s longest running and most prestigious stand-up showcase. In 2016 Kieran took his debut solo show Egg up to the fringe to great acclaim.

With acclaimed sketch trio WitTank, Kieran has enjoyed nine years of sold-out audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as numerous gigs and comedy festivals in the UK and Ireland. In 2011 they received a Best Show Nomination at the Leicester Comedy Festival, and appeared on Three at the Fringe (BBC3) and BBC Radio Scotland.

WitTank can be seen as stars of 3 series of the acclaimed BBC3’s comedy show, Live At the Electric and have filmed their own sitcom pilot for E4.
