A very special live recording of award-winning hit podcast The Breakup Monologues in partnership with Hackney Pride 365 and ELOP as part of Hackney’s celebration of Trans Awareness Week.
Special guests including Emma Frankland, Shivani Dave, Jen Ives and Cerys Bradley share their funny, bizarre and poignant stories of love, heartbreak and recovery with comedian, author and broadcaster Rosie Wilby.
Rosie has been obsessively researching the psychology of love for a decade and has even been dubbed the ‘the queen of breakups’ by BBC Radio 4. The Breakup Monologues is now also available as a book combining humour, heartache and science to investigate how on earth to actually stay in a relationship in the modern age of ghosting, breadcrumbing and Tinder. It has been described by Red Magazine as a ‘gem of a book’ and by Viv Groskop as ‘balm for the soul for anyone who has ever been in love’.
Meanwhile, the podcast has been nominated for both a British Podcast Award and an Independent Podcast Award in 2023, won a Wellcome Trust Pulse award in 2020 and has been praised by The Observer, Metro, Psychologies, Sunday Times, Chortle, Time Out and Radio 4.
If you’d like to contribute your own breakup story to The Breakup Monologues with support from Rosie, please get in touch. You can either make a written contribution (which can be anonymous if preferred) to be read out and / or published on The Breakup Monologues blog. Or, if you’re feeling brave, you can read out your own short breakup story onstage. Participants from the local trans and non-binary communities are particularly encouraged to apply.
