Berio & Walton with Shadwell Opera

Saturday 18 November | 19:30

Herald Angel Award Winners Shadwell Opera; East London’s resident opera company, come to Hoxton Hall for the first time with a concert of movement and lighting that mixes popular and high-art forms.

There will be Folk Songs by the giant of Italian modernism, Luciano Berio, which takes the listener on a virtuosic musical journey around the folk music of different countries. This will be followed by Walton’s Facade, featuring singer and songwriter Love Ssega, who will recite Edith Sitwell’s nonsense poetry above Walton’s vivacious music.

Conducted by Shadwell Opera music director Finnegan Downie Dear and directed by Artistic Director Jack Furness, this will be the kind of extraordinary event that Shadwell Opera is renowned for creating.
